Crazy Dogs Turn the Heat Up at their Winter Dyno Shoot Out Comp

Due to the success of their inaugural Dyno Shoot Out Competition in January 2016, Crazy Dogs Motorcycles recently hosted the Winter Dyno Shoot Out Comp. With over thirty bikes competing during the 4 hour event there was plenty of entertainment for motorcycle enthusiasts, including a sausage sizzle and giveaways for young and old alike. The Crazy Dogs Dynojet 250i ran LAMS bikes, Harleys, Sport bikes, Cruisers, Naked bikes, Tourers, a Nitrous and a Turbo bike and last but not least – a 125cc Grom!  “Winter is an ideal time for this sort of event as the bikes always run better on a cooler day and it’s more comfortable for the spectators,” said Richard Baker, owner of Crazy Dogs.IMG_9322

IMG_0095There was plenty to check out on the day including some of the fastest road bikes in South East Qld battling it out for the top prize. The action was played live on a 55 inch screen. “Having access to the screen added a whole new element to the spectator experience. Not only could they view the bike on the dyno, the onlookers watched the results in real-time as well. This is a one-of-a-kind comp in that we don’t charge entry fees & it’s an open-air dyno, so the audience can see the whole event,” explained Richard.IMG_9320

Entrants came from far and wide, with one Rockhampton couple braving a freezing 9 hour ride on their 2010 V-Max the night before in order to compete. Thankfully their trip wasn’t in vain as they came away 2nd in the Open class; having only just missed out on 1st place by 0.42 H/p.

When asked about the Dyno day, V-Max owner Mike G. said, “The techs got everybody through with time to spare and there were some very nice awards given out to the winners in each class. Not just decals or coupons for discounted purchases. These guys gave away real merchandise! Backpacks, 4 litre kits of oils, massive cans of premium chain lube, detailing products, tee shirts and the coolest custom made trophies! We each also got a printout of our best run of the day for keepsakes. The service techs went even further for me and emailed me the dyno run files upon request.”

Winner of the LAMS category on her Kawasaki Vulcan S, Roben F. said, “I ended up having a wonderful afternoon with many likeminded people. I was impressed with the professional way all the bikes were handled. Being able to see the results on the big screen TV was great. Thank you to everyone at Crazy Dogs for a well organised fun afternoon. I can’t wait for the next one!”

The trophy presentation included 4 categories: LAMS, Under 750cc, Open and Unlimited. The overall winner of the comp was a turbo charged GSX-R 1000 at 386.72 H/p which thrilled the spectators, most were obliged to use their complimentary ear plugs for the first time that session. Richard says, “We added the Unlimited category for turbos and supercharged bikes especially for the Winter Comp and there were so many V-Twins and Cruisers in this round that we’ll be adding a separate category just for them next time.”
